Malcolm Sparks, the long-term chef, creates excellent Table d'Hôte and à la Carte Menus of traditional English Fare. Specialities are Portloe lobster and crab, seafood from local waters, and an abundance of West Country produce, with Cornish Cream aplenty. Cakes, sweets and puddings are, of course, all home-made.
Full English Breakfast, with a splendid buffet, and a traditional five-course dinner are served in the dining room with its magnificent sea views on three sides.
Luncheons are served on the Quarterdeck and on the adjoining terrace. In the evening, guests have a choice of where to dine. The Quarterdeck offers a less formal grillroom-style seafood restaurant.
Toby Ashworth takes a personal interest in selecting and laying down wine. The cellar is well stocked with traditional and classic wine carefully chosen from the world's finest vineyards.
An informal atmosphere prevails at The Nare though in the evening most guests usually wear jackets and ties in the dining room. The Quarterdeck tends to be more relaxed.
